Sew Green Fashion Camp is for youth ages 8 to 16 who have an interest in fashion and sewing with little to no exposure to the industry. The aim of the sewing camp is to encourage women and youth to participate in fashion from the vantage point of the entrepreneur. All too often skills such as sewing and jewelry making are strictly thought of as craft or hobby only. Camp is facilitated by Hekima Hapa of Harriets by Hekima, a seamstress and designer with over 20 years of fashion experience. The Fashion Camp is a 4 week long sewing intensive and introduction to Fashion Business workshop. Students will receive 40+ hours of hands on sewing instruction with a focus on sustainability and recycling coupled with exposure to the fashion industry at large.
Sew Green Fashion Camp will be offer half day Creative Courses from 1-5pm for campers that are interested in coming in later in the day to experience craft making. We'll have specialty crafters each week facilitating workshops that include things like weaving, jewelry making, garment dying, screen printing, illustration, and social media management.
**Creative Courses ARE INCLUDED for campers who enroll in the full day, 9a-5pm program.
